So what do I mean & why am I asking this……??
Let me explain-
In my office I have a plant, My mentor Lisa Diane says a plant can only live in a positive environment.. and if a plant can’t with stand the condition- it isn’t healthy for a human to be in (makes sense!!). And sometimes if I’m gone for a long weekend it dies and looks like it’s done for. But, every time I give it a bit of water and put it in some sun light.. and hours later it looks just as healthy as it did when I bought it! So if I’m not taking care of the plant- it obviously dies.. When I water every other day and give it the sunlight it needs- it looks so beautiful and pretty to have on my desk.. What I’m trying to say, is this how you run your life and online business..?
Sometimes your watering your plant (writing blog posts/ content for your site) and giving it some of the sunlight it needs (submitting articles & driving traffic) So your online business comes to a holt and looks dead.. Or, is your plant (business) always watered and has the sunlight causing it never to be neglected so it’s flourishing and making it into the empire you want??
The key to ANY business, especially online marketing is that your always “watering and giving it the sunlight” it needs- if not, search engines thinks your business is ‘dead’ and gives the person that’s searching the terms you want to be noticed by Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc… to the other competior that has the ‘green thumb’ and is always taking care of their business..
I know it’s a bit cheesy to compare a business to a plant- but, it’s very true to what I’m saying.. Trust me I know from keeping tabs on tracking amounts of traffic that comes to my site… and guess when it’s the most?? Yup, when I’m pumping out content and giving the search engines what they want -a nice healthy plant
So what are you waiting for?? Post an article and comment about your post in this blog thread… The one that get’s my attention the most will be ‘blasted’ to my subscribers and get some more “sunlight”!!
As Always,
To Your Success & Makin Millions!

Hey great post!!
It’s very true, keeping up with your business is the same as keeping a plant alive. Steady traffic and fresh content will grow your business faster than any other way out there.

Awesome Post Ryan!
Once again, you’ve found a way to put this whole blogging and internet marketing business into a different light.
What could I say that hasn’t already been said?
Even watering your plant (posting on your blog) just 3-5 times a week will increase the activity your site will see.
Again, great post my friend!

NEAT POST RYAN. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION I THINK I MIGHT BE A PLANT IF IT MEANS TRYING TO KEEP UP AND KEEPING IT WATERED.

Hi Ryan,
we’re just getting started in the internet world. Great advise to help us get going in the right way. we’ll keep growing and watering and hope our plants take roots and grow!

Ryan,
Enjoyed your comments comparing us to plants. I have many house plants that I have kept alive for years. So this must mean I can blog if I put my mind to it. Keep up the good work, Ryan.
I am working on my 10 articles now and intend to start blogging. One step at a time on a firm foundation…right! Thanks, Karen from Utah

I do not usually post,I am new at this, but to compare a business to a plant sounds very good to me. You have to keep them both very nourished to keep the plant growing and to keep your business grow to it fulliest.

I want to be the jalepeno pepper plant in my backyard, grows fast and bears some hot fruit! I like the comparison Ryan! Did good!

Ryan Watering your plants - great illustration.
Do not get distracted by other “stuff” when the “plants” need watering !
===
A Distraction Is A Distraction
Did you read that? A Distraction is a Distraction!
I don’t know about you - but my story could be this.
I get up early, 5 am before most of the world gets
turned on. Before God turns the lights on, outside!
I have plans, I have a project scheduled to do
before the world wakens.
Coffee is perking, I turn my computer on, the
project to work on is on my desk, which is also
giving a yawn and waking up to the smell of coffee.
Distraction.
My computer tells me there is an important
email from a colleague. Read it now. I do.
He has given me a link to another website
I really need to review - now. I do.
Distraction.
It is now 9 am, time for another cup of coffee.
And to make my wife her breakfast cup of tea.
She loves her cup of tea while doing the bathroom
getting ready for the day stuff a wife does.
Distraction.
It is now 9:45 am - must finish up the project
that my colleague directed me to before he
calls me about 11 am to review.
My personal to do project is patiently
sitting on my desk taking another stretch
and smiling knowing that sooner or much
later I will get to her.
Distraction.
An hour with my colleague on his project
well that was not the plan for today.
However, it was important.
Distraction.
Noon and I always eat lunch right at 12 noon.
Never a minute late either.
This day is going by quickly and really so far
all I have accomplished were the Distractions.
Distraction
Afternoon, Oh, the ballgame is getting started.
This is a very important game this season.
I know I have a priority project sitting on
my desk ….. but…….
A Distraction is always a distraction.
My success is following a system and
being focused on “this one thing I do”.
Life quickly passes by – with Distractions
unless I make certain that PRIORITIES
supersedes the Distractions.
I AM zooming to success and prosperity !

Dear Ryan,
what a wonderful comparison! For me my plants are my boys … if I had not given them any milk when they were born they had had no chance to grow up, when I had not told them how to walk and speak and play and laugh and love and trust they would not do so today … what you put in is what you get out … and it is a steady growing and a continuum that guarantees success … both in personal and in private life … with the only difference being that on one side (on the business part) you can generate lots of income and on the other side (in my case my two wonderful little boys) you earn a sincere smile and hug … worth more than any pay check can pay out in love and emotions!
Thank You Ryan again for this great post,
Kasia

Wonderful analogy Ryan. I really feel that most internet marketers throw their
seeds out willy nilly scattering them to the four winds and don’t water (nurture) and fertilize (edify) the tender shoots that come up here and there.
They wither and die in the scorching heat of neglect and the ground under their tiny roots dries up for lack of nutrients (communication from the gardener).
It takes time, effort and commitment to build a business online and part of that is being willing to plant carefully and nurture what you do plant. You can’t get rich quick and you certainly can’t get rich or comfortable without effort and time and commitment of resources personal and financial.
Thanks again for a marvelous blog.

I think I live like a tomato because I constantly need refreshment and nourishment. When I was growing up we had a family garden and it was my job to water the tomato plants. So I know that they require more water than other plants. I am kind of like that because I constantly need to be renewed by reading or learning something new.
But my online business and affiliate websites can be likened to a flowering cactus. I have some great ideas but I hardly ever follow through. My efforts are kind of hit and miss and maybe not always the right thing to do because I live in a desert with not alot of extra money to spend on the poor things.

Hi Ryan,
Great comparison as long as there is a healthy balance. When we focus daily on the needs of our plant it will sprout forth and be healthy. So it is with our lives, and our business to be balanced and take FOCUSED action on what the “plant” needs, e.g. water, sunlight, fertilizer, communication, and some R&R .
Great post.

Namaste Ryan,
Lovely!!! So far, I have been a creeper, but now I shall bloom like the jasmine plant…… spreading fragrance far and wide!!! You have inspired me to “do better and get better”……. though, once in a while, I shall let the rain water the plants, so that I can sit back and watch it all happen
Thanks for all your support.

Hey Ryan!
I’ve been thinking about what you wrote here almost all day.
You see, I’ve been at this online marketing thing for about 19 months. I’ve seen some opt-ins and some actual cash from it.
Nothing like I thought I would however.
I do what I can with what I have here. I really LOVE plants and your analogy makes a lot of sense to me.
What ISN’T making sense is the amount of time & effort I’ve lavished on this thing and the scrawny plant I seem to have gotten out of it! Am I giving it the wrong plant food or something?
And the real disaster? I’ve become like the plant you put in the closet for a few weeks, I think. Oh, I’m still growing and learning a great deal. Unfortunately, it seems to be making me tall & skinny & really really pale (and broke!).
I’ve turned down many invitations for fun because I’m not getting the ‘green’ from my online efforts. This is what I’m doing right now. If something doesn’t go right pretty darn quick, I’ll either be back at a job or living in the streets.
What am I missing? I post to my blog nearly every day. I’ve written a few articles (not a ’strength’ by any means) and I get on a few social networking sites and tap in, communicate with others, etc. like crazy most days!
I’m all ‘ears’ (all puns intended ; )

Hi there Ryan,
Your imagery of comparing tending a plant to how we tend our lives or our ‘business’ is really great.
It really gives a clear image in our minds of what is needed to grow a successful online business, or any business for that matter.
With online marketing, I am sure everyone would agree to the amount
of information overload that comes our way,
each product or tool or opportunity looking better and easier than the next.
It becomes confusing and is hard to find our way,
with clear focus and direction,
as we can’t ’see the forest through the trees’.
Your sharing of caringlly tending the plant with all it needs to keep it
happy, alive and green, makes that very simple to see what is really
required. For most of us online, if that were to be one of the first
gems of information to be shared with us,
it would make life a lot simpler.
Well done Ryan, all the best with your Coaching and Product Launch!
Thanks for your patient assistance to my questions.
Kind regards
Jacqui O’Neill

As I read the previous posts I get the feeling that most of my feelings have been stated, however, one of my favorite beliefs always “sprouts” from the word “THOUGHTS”. The plant you mention must have began it’s life from a seed and that seed represents a “thought”. Likewise in our lives, as with your plant, what we are today is what our “thoughts” were that preceded todays reality.
With that said I realize there is a lot of room in todays “thoughts” if I want a better tomorrow.
Thanks for your analogy using a beautiful plant to spur my “thoughts”.
Excuse me now as I nssd some extra oxygen from riding my motorcycle.

Great point, Ryan.
We have to remember to care for ourselves and our businesses every day if we expect to see a beautiful blossom instead of wilted leaves.

This is in replay to Pam. I’ve copied her entire post below my comment.
Pam Great question! Like any analogy, even though Ryan’s plant anology is good, it’s not complete.
What if the plant were poison ivy…
See, there are some plants people don’t want around, no matter how much you water and feed and nurture it, people just don’t want it on their desk!
A seminar list is just such a thing. No one wants to know when the next seminar is. Really, they don’t. Despite what they might SAY.
What people really want to know is closer to… when is my favorite guru next speaking live? Or when is the next seminar in my city? Or, more closely, where are my friends telling me I must be?
See, before choosing to buture a plant for long, you must first see if it’s a viable plant. Will people buy it?

Ryan,
Thanks for the great post! I like how you put that there is a common thread to make us and/or businesses thrive. To attract what you want in life takes some consistent work. Just like what I’ve learned with you and Lisa Dian and Mike Antoni.
All my best,
Kristina

Aloha Ryan,
I noticed your request 2 post here from Twitter - so - here I am. Great analogy.
Although - does this mean women will do better in the online world now that social networking has become all the rage? Women are great care-takers of plants, pets and kids - right?
Here’s what my buddy thinks about women vs. men on Twitter & social networking - on a recent blog post (also per your request - see how well I listen to you?)
http://tribalseduction.com/blog/womenrule
So - what do you think?
Should Joe be kicked out of the man club for his thoughts?

It makes so much sense. Sometime it’s a small neglect on our part, but it has
a big impact!

I’ve never blogged before. This will be an adventure. I water plants and herbs on a very specific schedule - my businesses need the same care. Is there a ’schedule’ to follow weekly, step-by-daily-step?

Hi Ryan:
Why I would like to be one of the *four* people to receive personal coarching. In two weeks, I will have my 10 articles published and start blogging. ‘Social Networking Marketing Series Case Study’ seems like a logical next step, and will force me to seriously start focusing on traffic to my blog. I would like to work with you personally, Ryan.
Also, The specific plant I would like to be is a Rose. As I keep my Rose watered and old blooms cut back…it will continue to bloom and be beautiful all summer! Thanks, Karen Jaenisch
